Odessa's Outfit

Odessa staff and volunteers are now operating a day center to provide showers, medical consultation, clothing, pastoral visits, and a listening ear.  Starting in January, staff and volunteers operating the bus identify 8-12 individuals most in need of services the day center now offers.  These services are offered five days per week.

So far, this day center has provided more than 400 showers, pairs of underpants and socks.  Staff and volunteers collect and distribute pants, shirts, coats, scarves, hats, and shoes donations.  Look through the pictures to see how the center works and what changes are visible in those who use its services.

On March 8, the day center celebrated Women’s Day by offering services to women only.  They washed up, drank hot tea together, discussed their situations, and had the opportunity to cheer up one another in a relaxed environment.  Because this event was so popular, staff and volunteers plan to repeat it monthly throughout 2013.
